How to Become a Christian

God Loves You
You can know God loves you. The Bible tells us: "For God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life."-- John 3:16
God Has a Purpose for Your Life
He wants you to have a full, meaningful life now: "I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly."-- John 10:10

He wants you to have eternal life in Heaven: "The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."-- Romans 6:23b
God Knows our Need
We are all sinners by nature and choice: "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."-- Romans 3:23

We cannot save ourselves: "Not by works, so that no one can boast." -- Ephesians 2:9

We deserve death and Hell: "The wages of sin is death." -- Romans 6:23a
God Meets our Need Through Jesus Christ
Jesus died on the cross to save you from sin and death: "For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death." -- I Peter 3:18

Jesus rose from the dead and is alive today Christ died for our sins He was buried He was raised on the third day, according to the scriptures He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve (Apostles). After that He appeared to more than five hundred. -- I Corinthians 15:3-6

Jesus paid the price for your sin: "But God commanded His love toward us even while we still sinners; and Christ died for us. Much more then, being now made right by His blood, we shall be saved." -- Romans 5:8-9
God Wants You to be Saved Today
You can be saved because God speaks to your heart: No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him -- John 6:44

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. --John 12:32

Believing means to trust what Jesus did for you: "For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through Faith." -- Ephesians 2:8

Repentance is turning to God and away from sin: "Repent and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out." -- Acts 3:19

Commit you life to Jesus today as your Savior and Lord: "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." -- Romans 10:9-10
Pray to God Now
Simply talk to God as you would talk to a person. God hears you. He knows what you are thinking in your heart before you say the words.
1. Ask Him to forgive you of your sin. Admit that you are a sinner and cannot save yourself no matter how good you try to be.

2. Tell Him you believe Jesus is God's Son and He died for you. Tell Him that you believe Jesus is alive and has the power to save you.

3. Ask Jesus to come into your life to save you. Pray this prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.
If you have prayed to receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord, you can begin your new Christian walk and living the abundant life right now. Find a church and join with a community of believers. If First Baptist Church is your choice, you can find out how to become a member. Regardless of where you decide to go to church, you have just made the most life-changing decision you will ever make. It is important to read your Bible. Start with the Gospel of John. Pray daily. Spend time around mature Christian people. Tell your friends what Jesus has done for you.
There are three ways to become a member of First Baptist Church:
Baptism: After you become a Christian, Baptism is the way to tell others you are saved. This makes you a member.

Transfer of Letter: If you move from another church that also baptizes by emersion, we can ask that church to move your membership here.

Statement: If you are saved and baptized, but you no longer have a church membership, we will accept you based on your statement of placing your faith in Jesus Christ.
